We asked Berto Martino from società agricola Tenuta Berto, in Italy, about his preparations for the season and what sort of support he expects from his dealer during his busiest times.

Tell us about your farm

It’s an historical farm, my family has been farming land in the area since the start of the 20th century. Initially our main crop was grapevines, then in the 2000s with my father, who’s the fourth generation, we started growing asparagus.

The farm is constantly expanding, today we grow around 65 hectares of asparagus and in 2011 we reintroduced grapevines because of growing demand for prosecco. Today our vineyard covers over 60 hectares.

Do you stock spare parts pre-season?

As for spare parts and consumables, on the farm we maintain sufficient stocks of materials to service our machines 6-7 times. We use Genuine spare parts to be sure of what we’re fitting.

What in-season support do you expect from your dealer?

That the dealer maintains stocks of spare parts, because in my view that’s the basic requirement. Then, especially during the season, I expect fast, effective and competent support.
