The Massey Ferguson Ultimate Refurb: The Big Reveal

Since UK farmers Nigel and Robert Bowyer were named the lucky winners of our MF Ultimate Refurb in AGCO’s #VinToWin competition, the team at Massey Ferguson in France, the AGCO parts & service team and our expert partners at Michelin and Quicke have been hard at work; admirably rising to the challenge of restoring an 18-year-old MF 5455 which has seen more than 18,000 hours of hard labour, as close to factory condition as possible.
And now, things at the MF facility in Beauvais, France are getting really exciting as the refurb nears completion. The travel arrangements have been made to return the refurbished tractor back to its home on the farm in Wales. The date for the ‘Big Reveal’ has been set, and the final push is on.
The Bowyers have had a long and happy relationship with Massey Ferguson. The partnership started with the purchase of a little TE20, followed by a 34, four cylinder that Rob recalls had to be towed to start! They then invested in a 35X and a 135 bought in 1969 which is still in use on the farm today.
And this relationship is still going strong – so much so that the Bowyers bought another MF 5455 to add to their impressive collection only last year!
So as the family prepares to welcome back this completely refurbished machine, ready to face thousands more tonnes of spuds, cereals, maize, bales, muck and soil - here's to another eighteen years of farming!

Finishing the job
The challenging task is nearing completion. All body work has been restored and painted, the completely refurbished loader arm, plus new tyres have been installed. This video captures the moments after engine rebuild and installation when this beauty starts first time. A very proud moment for our technicians who can’t wait to see the look on Rob’s face when he gets his factory standard machine with full warranty back.
