SMART SAFETY

Front loaders: 6 things to remember

SMART Safety front loader safety

  1. Ensure an attached implement has been installed and locked correctly.

  2. Beware of operating in low roofed buildings or around overhead powerlines. The implement could cause damage to the building, with the risk of debris falling.

  3. Keep the loader arm away from overhead powerlines and remember that electricity can jump up to 5 metres at high voltage.

  4. When moving the tractor, avoid driving with the arm raised – this will reduce cab visibility.

  5. Before starting a task, consider the ballast required to ensure the tractor remains stable while lifting or moving heavy loads. Rear weights, including wheel weights, should be considered. Make sure both the tractor and loader are rated for the task.

  • Maintenance is key to ensuring your loader not only delivers optimum performance but is also safe to operate. Inspect link pins and hose condition. Check to make sure linkage points are undamaged, free of debris and operate correctly.
