Vin to Win: MF 5455 - a noughties classic

10th March 2022

MF Vin to Win Ultimate Refurb Winner

The winner of the Massey Ferguson ultimate refurb was an MF 5455, owned by Robert Bowyer from Wales. The refurb team in Beauvais have been busy working on the machine since it arrived with them, and we will soon be able to share more information on how it’s progressing - but in the meantime, we thought we’d look back at the history of the winning machine, the MF 5455, which was manufactured in Beauvais, France between 2003 and 2012.

In the mid to late noughties, the MF 5455 was Massey Ferguson’s most popular tractor in the 100hp-200hp sector. In fact, it was one of the best-selling loader tractors in Europe! The reason the MF 5455 was so popular is simple: the tractor not only offered the highest standard specification in this sector of the market, it was also available with a huge range of options and equipment ‘packs’ that allowed customers to finely tune the features to exactly suit their particular needs.

But the MF 5455 is not just a loader specialist. It is a truly versatile all-rounder, equipped to provide high performance not just in the yard, but also in the field and on the road. Its unrivalled level of specification was key to its popularity at the time and no doubt part of the reason why Robert Bowyer purchased his back in 2003. “This tractor has been a gem,” said Robert. “We’ve had it since new and spent 18,000 hours working with it.”

Over the nine years of production, almost 17,000 5455s were manufactured and sold across the world, which shows how loved this machine was by many. It’s great to hear that Robert describes his as “a gem” - this model is certainly a gem to us here at Massey Ferguson as well.
