Tolerances narrower than a human hair
“AGCO Parts tolerances are so tight we work in hundredths or even thousands of millimetres with requirements narrower than the width of a human hair. Compare that to components that are of bad quality or don’t have the perfect fit... the fuel consumption would go up, meaning more expense for the farmer”
“We’re talking 2000 bars of pressure – that's like 75 elephants standing on your chest!
Lasting performance, controlled fuel consumption
“Our components will work for thousands of hours – we make sure they are designed for the job. A part that isn’t up to our high standards can cause power loss which would lead to increased fuel consumption. So, we focus on the quality of the materials, as well as the design, to ensure they are robust, long-lasting and effective.
“We can’t risk a leak... it could break the whole engine...”
Quality materials essential for safety
“A fuel system leak can easily cut through your hands, the pressure in a fuel system is so high. We’re talking 2000 bars of pressure – that's like 75 elephants standing on your chest! We can’t risk a leak in a fuel injector, it can cause serious damage, it can break the whole engine.
“This is why our fuel system components are engineered using only the highest quality material to prevent failures and leaks. Good sealing is also essential as it prevents leaks that can cause fires. If you have a high-pressure fuel line and the material isn’t up to standard and cracks the spray from that crack can cause serious harm.
“Part of my job is to ensure the materials used are good enough to handle this pressure over the long term. There is a lot of vibration in the engine that could potentially cause cracks. We do a lot of testing to ensure everything works well and performs safety”.
Maintenance is key
“Quality parts will give you lasting performance, but you still risk inefficiencies and potential damage to your machine if you don’t carry out regular maintenance and replace worn wear parts.
“Replacing wear parts at the correct interval can help reduce fuel waste, retain engine longevity, help avoid piston damage and have a positive effect on emissions."
“Take filters, for example; if fuel filters are not changed according to the defined service intervals, they can clog, reducing the amount of fuel going to the engine resulting in increased part wear, poor performance and reduced power.”
New technology - lower emissions
“Increasingly emissions have become a main driver for us the in development of fuel system components. We’ll do everything we can to make sure the emissions are as low as possible. That brings with it new technologies like higher fuel pressures. It’s our job to make sure the combustion is as good as it gets. Remember defective components cause increased emissions.
"...hard work and passion..."
“I think that's what we're trying to illustrate to the farmers, to our customers, the amount of hard work and passion and expertise that goes into ensuring great performance with parts that are designed and tested to perfectly match our machines.”
High‑precision injectors, correctly specified high‑pressure lines and quality filters all work together to deliver reliable power, controlled fuel consumption and lower emissions over the long term. The people behind AGCO put pride and hard work into protecting your uptime, saving fuel costs and supporting the safety of everyone working with AGCO machines.
